From the founder
We make one case. Not a collection, not a new color every season. One case in one material, and all of our attention goes into it.

The industry sells luggage the way it sells clothing, and underneath the marketing most of it is a plastic shell that cracks and gets replaced. That business model needs the bag to fail. I think a case should be equipment: you buy it once and it works for decades.

So: aluminum, because it holds its shape where plastic cracks. Frame latches instead of zippers, because zippers fail first. And every case is covered by lifetime service.

I read the emails myself.

Questions

Common questions

How big is The Cabin?

The shell is 20 inches tall, which is where the 20 inch name comes from. The full case, wheels included, measures 22.6 x 15.4 x 8.3 in (57.3 x 39.2 x 21 cm) and weighs 8.36 lb (3.79 kg) empty. Carry-on limits vary by airline and fare class, so compare these numbers with your airline before you fly.

What is the shell made of?

Ribbed anodized aluminum. There is no plastic shell and no zipper: the case closes with TSA-approved frame latches, metal on metal.

Are the latches TSA approved?

Yes. TSA agents can open and relock the frame latches with standard tools during inspection, so nothing gets cut. Both locks ship set to 000 and take a three-digit code you choose.

Why no zippers?

A coil zipper can be split open with a ballpoint pen and re-zipped without a trace, and zipper failure is the most common way otherwise fine luggage dies. Frame latches close metal on metal with nothing to split or derail.

Is there a carry-on weight limit?

Most US airlines publish no domestic carry-on weight limit. Many international carriers cap cabin bags at 7 to 12 kg. The Cabin weighs 3.79 kg empty, which leaves room under those caps.

How much is shipping and how fast does it arrive?

Shipping is free and tracked in the contiguous US. Orders typically ship within 2 business days, and most deliveries arrive 2 to 5 business days after that.

What is the return policy?

Return the case within 60 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging, for a full refund with no restocking fees. We email a prepaid return label the same business day you ask.

What does lifetime service cover?

Wheels, latches, handles and the telescoping trolley are covered for the life of the case. Email info@taloluggage.com and we handle it from there.
